Global Warming Measuring Efforts Not Measuring Up

Here’s alarming news…if you’re a global warming alarmist: U.S. Cuts Back Climate Checks From Space - washingtonpost.com

“The Bush administration is drastically scaling back efforts to measure global warming from space, just as the president tries to convince the world the U.S. is ready to take the lead in reducing greenhouse gases.”

That’s paragraph one. In paragraph two, we learn that:

“…U.S. scientists will soon lose much of their ability to monitor warming from space using a costly and problem-plagued satellite initiative begun more than a decade ago.”

So we’re not scaling back as a result of some government plot to minimize global warming but rather because the program, initiated during the Clinton administration, has gone financially and technically awry. Further, as you read the article, you get the sense that even if we kept foolishly pouring billions into the program there is not any great likelihood that we would ever get that apparently crucial global warming measurement.

Finally, even without this billion dollar boondoggle, the likes of Al Gore and Leonardo Di Caprio have not only been able to precisely measure any global temperature rise but also man’s shameful contribution to it. Why don’t we just go their sources?
